Description
BDO are seeking an experienced and motivated Customs Manager who will work with Directors and Partner to assist and manage clients customs compliance requirements.
This role requires a strong technical background in customs regulations, combined with a proactive mindset and a genuine willingness to continue learning and evolving in a dynamic trade environment.
The ideal candidate will bring both expertise and a collaborative mindset. Someone confident in their knowledge but equally open to new ideas and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on and, where required, manage end-to-end customs operations on an outsourced basis, ensuring full compliance with all relevant regulations and procedures
- Review of import/export declarations to ensure accurate tariff classification, valuation, and origin determination
- Ability to engage with customs authorities and external stakeholders when required
- Monitor and interpret changes in customs legislation and implement necessary process updates for clients
- Ensures client internal compliance controls are maintained and improved
- Have a number of years’ experience with specialised Customs procedures such as IPR, OPR and Customs Warehousing
- Have an understanding of AEO
- Support and develop team members, fostering a culture of accountability and learning
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other teams
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential Requirements- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in customs and/or trade compliance
- Strong working knowledge of EU customs regulations and procedures
- Attention to detail
- A good communicator
- Strong IT skills
- Understanding of and experience using ERP systems
- Proven ability to manage customs operations with attention to detail
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Commercial approach
