About the Client:
We are sourcing on behalf of a leading multinational trading and distribution company headquartered in Dubai, with a global supply network and operations spanning multiple industries. To support their growing logistics and international trade activities, the company is hiring a Shipping and Trade Compliance Officer to ensure all import/export operations comply with local and international regulations.

Role Summary:
As a Shipping and Trade Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring that all shipments and trade activities meet applicable legal, regulatory, and documentation standards. You will work closely with internal logistics, procurement, legal, and operations teams, as well as external freight forwarders, customs brokers, and government entities, to manage compliance risks and maintain smooth shipping processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage compliance with international trade regulations, UAE customs requirements, and free zone protocols.
- Review and validate shipping and customs documentation including invoices, packing lists, COO, and HS codes.
- Ensure proper classification and valuation of goods according to UAE customs regulations and international trade laws.
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and government authorities to resolve shipment delays or compliance issues.
- Maintain records for audits and assist with internal and external compliance inspections.
- Stay updated on changes in import/export laws and advise internal teams accordingly.
- Support duty drawback claims, bonded warehouse activities, and free zone transfer processes as applicable.
- Ensure accuracy in import/export declarations and support the finance team with reconciliation of duties and taxes.
- Conduct internal training on trade compliance policies and procedures.
- Monitor denied party screening, restricted countries, and dual-use goods processes.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in shipping, logistics, and trade compliance roles within the UAE.
- Strong knowledge of UAE customs regulations, Incoterms, HS codes, and international trade documentation.
- Experience working with Dubai Trade, JAFZA, or other UAE free zone portals.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and logistics systems (ERP experience is a plus).
- Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.
- Fluent in English; Arabic is an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in trade compliance or customs regulations (e.g., CUSECO, CCS, or equivalent).
- Experience working in regulated industries (e.g., FMCG, electronics, industrial equipment).
- Prior interaction with multinational freight forwarders or shipping lines.
