Astro Offshore-An Adani Group Company is looking for a highly skilled Technical Procurement Officer to join our team.
This role focuses on managing the procurement of marine equipment and materials essential for offshore operations. As part of our procurement team, you will ensure the timely acquisition of high-quality technical products, maintaining strict compliance with industry standards while optimising cost-efficiency.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Source marine equipment (e.g., engines, navigation systems, pumps, safety systems, hull fittings).
· Maintain a database of approved marine suppliers and manufacturers.
· Evaluate suppliers for quality, compliance with IMO/class regulations, and performance.
· Analyze equipment specs, drawings, and manuals.
· Liaise with marine engineers, fleet managers, and superintendents to define technical needs.
· Ensure technical compliance with SOLAS, MARPOL, and classification society requirements (e.g., DNV, Lloyd’s Register).
· Prepare RFQs, compare quotes, and execute POs.
· Negotiate pricing, delivery, warranty, and payment terms.
· Follow up on delivery, logistics (including import/export documentation), and customs clearance.
· Coordinate technical purchases for dry docks, retrofits, new builds, and repair projects.
· Work closely with shipyard teams, vessel crews, and logistics to ensure timely material flow.
· Ensure proper documentation (Material Safety Data Sheets, certifications, manuals).
· Support inventory control for ship spares and consumables.
· Maintain, update and administer procurement files on electronic and hard copy and ensure documents are readily available during any audit.
· Supervises the team to ensure that tasks are completed in line with plans and timetables.
· Awareness of the SHEQ Management System and Company Policies.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
· 3–5 years in marine procurement or technical purchasing; seagoing experience as an engineer is a strong advantage.
· Marine systems and equipment (e.g., propulsion, HVAC, fire systems).
· International maritime regulations (IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL).
· Classification societies (e.g., ABS, BV, DNV).
· Strong negotiation and communication skills.
· Analytical mindset with high attention to detail.
· Team collaboration and cross-department coordination.
