Role Overview
The Transport Controller plays a critical role in coordinating and overseeing transportation activities to ensure smooth cargo movements, compliance with client requirements, and timely issue resolution. This role requires strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a focus on client satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare job details including schedules, documentation, clearing agents, loading/offloading points, and distribution lists.
 - Issue and verify all transport-related documents (Packing List, Road Manifest, Client Invoice, etc.)
 - Monitor Estimated Time of Arrivals (ETAs) and ensure timely updates
 - Oversee capacity allocation and execution to meet client commitments.
 - Provide accurate daily client reports in line with agreed formats.
 - Handle client queries and exceptions, offering clear and timely feedback.
 - Manage supplier communications regarding new bookings, delays, and updates.
 - Oversee incident management and risk events (accidents, breakdowns, unauthorized stops).
 - Arrange escorts for high-value cargo and confirm all necessary details.
 - Notify relevant parties and calculate demurrage charges where applicable.
 - Coordinate with ground teams at loading, offloading, and border points to ensure smooth operations.
 - Participate in three weekly meetings to address challenges, seek clarifications, plan ahead, and manage escalations.
 - Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as required to improve efficiency.
 - Directly manage a small team of 2–4 staff, including Operations Expeditors and Purchase Expeditors.
 - Provide ongoing feedback to Key Account Managers regarding client performance and status.

Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field (preferred).
 - Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in transport coordination, logistics, or supply chain management.
 - Experience in client-facing roles and incident management is an advantage.
 - Prior exposure to managing small teams is desirable.
