Job Description
The Import-Export Specialist is a key figure in managing and facilitating the international transactions of goods. This role requires a detailed understanding of both domestic and international markets and the legal regulations that govern trade. As an Import-Export Specialist, you will be tasked with ensuring that shipments are delivered on time and within budget while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and compliance. Your role will involve monitoring shipments, liaising with customs officials, and coordinating with shipping companies to ensure smooth logistics operations. This position demands excellent organizational skills, an ability to multitask, and a strong aptitude for problem-solving to handle any discrepancies or challenges in the shipping process effectively. The successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a solid understanding of supply chain processes, and the ability to forge strong relationships with a network of international and domestic partners.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage all aspects of the import and export process.
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and laws.
- Communicate with customs brokers, suppliers, and transportation companies.
- Develop and maintain sustainable relationships with external partners.
- Maintain up-to-date records of incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Prepare and handle all necessary documentation for international shipments.
- Monitor shipments to ensure timely delivery and resolve any delays.
- Negotiate shipping and tariff costs with various vendors and suppliers.
- Analyze and optimize shipping processes to improve efficiency.
- Identify and manage risks related to international logistics operations.
- Provide timely updates and reports on shipment status and discrepancies.
- Collaborate with internal teams to streamline supply chain operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Logistics, or a related field.
- Proven experience in import-export operations and logistics management.
- Strong knowledge of international trade regulations and legal compliance.
- Excellent organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in English.
- Experience using logistics and inventory management software systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
