The role will be responsible for overseeing strategic growth, client relationships, and operational performance. Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement long-term strategies for business growth in contract logistics and freight forwarding.
Sales and Business Development:
- Drive sales to achieve company targets and objectives.
- Identify new business opportunities and build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Conduct sales presentations and negotiate large, complex contracts.
Team Management:
- Lead, manage, and mentor a sales and operations team.
- Provide guidance, training, and performance evaluations to achieve sales goals.
- Foster a high-performance sales culture.
Operational Oversight:
- Collaborate with operations teams to ensure seamless service delivery and meet client expectations.
- Oversee the coordination of complex logistics chains, from origin to destination.
- Utilize data-driven solutions for planning and real-time monitoring.
Financial Acumen:
- Monitor and manage team and individual performance against targets.
- Provide sales forecasts, reports, and insights to senior management.
- Ensure profitability of solutions and contracts.
Market Presence:
- Collaborate on marketing and promotional activities.
- Attend industry events to generate leads and increase brand visibility.
Required skills and qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 10-15 years in logistics, contact logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain, with a proven track record in sales and a history of exceeding targets.
- Sales Expertise: Significant B2B sales experience, specifically in freight forwarding and contract logistics.
- Industry Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of global trade routes, international customs procedures, shipping documentation, and Incoterms.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with ERP, TMS, and other freight management systems is often required.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Communication: Excellent communication and negotiation skills are crucial for dealing with clients and internal teams.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex logistics requirements and formulate profitable solutions.
