Key responsibilities
- Operational oversight: Manage all aspects of freight forwarding operations including air, ocean and land freight for both import and export.
- Strategic management: Work with the head of Sales and Marketing to ensure a cohesive strategy and collaborate on business development.
- Team leadership: Manage and develop operational teams, including customer service, to ensure a superior customer experience.
- Process improvement: Ensure the highest level of service delivery by monitoring operations, implementing standard operating procedures, and resolving issues.
- Financial and vendor management: Negotiate rates with shipping lines and airlines, and manage agency agreements with overseas partners.
- Product management: Oversee product lines such as customs brokerage and domestic trucking to support the core freight forwarding business.
Key qualifications
- Experience: Extensive experience in freight operations, logistics, supply chain management, or related fields.
- Technical skills: Proficiency with transportation management systems (TMS) and logistics software like SAP or Oracle, along with strong skills in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools (like Power BI).
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of international shipping, regulations, and Incoterms.
- Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills are essential.
- Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical problem-solving skills are required.
