About the Role
The role is responsible for providing expert legal guidance and supporting the management and operational functions within the legal section of PCFC. This role involves providing high-level support to the legal team by offering in-depth insights on complex legal issues, developing strategic recommendations, and contributing to high-stakes legal matters. The Senior Legal Researcher ensures a thorough understanding and application of legal principles to support the organization's objectives and compliance requirements.
Key Accountabilities
- Conduct comprehensive and complex legal research on a wide range of topics, including case law, statutes, regulations, and legal precedents. Provide detailed analysis and summaries to support legal strategies and decision-making.
- Work closely with legal advisors, attorneys, and other departments to provide research support for litigation, contract negotiations, and regulatory compliance.
- Help with corporate incorporation transactions, including drafting and updating the Memorandum of Association (MOA) for PCFC’s licensing units (e.g., Trakhees, JAFZA).
- Address and resolve complaints related to PCFC’s operations and decisions in collaboration with relevant internal teams.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of complex contract terms and conditions. Assess potential risks and implications related to contract clauses. Review and interpret existing contracts to identify any issues or areas for improvement.
- Support the negotiation process by providing research-based insights and recommendations. Assist in formulating negotiation strategies and tactics.
- Ensure that contracts adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. Stay informed about changes in laws that may impact contract terms or practices.
- Monitor and evaluate contract performance to ensure compliance with terms and conditions. Identify and address any breaches or non-compliance issues. Provide strategic advice on mitigating risks associated with contractual obligations and liabilities.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all contract-related documents. Ensure that documentation is complete and easily accessible for audit and reference purposes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Legal Studies or a related field
- Preferred: Certified contract Management Professional, Certified lawyer
- 4-5 years of experience in Legal Affairs
- Experience in handling complex contractual aspects and providing legal opinions in a corporate setting, preferably within the maritime, logistics, or corporate sectors
